December

December Prayer Page by Ronnie Parton

As the year circles round to Advent time we are called to pay attention, to wait, to ponder our journey, to reflect on what lies just ahead of us. The Birth of the Christ Child.
I offer, for our December prayer, an opportunity to pause, look back at the past year and then to be led onwards.

I offer four questions – the first three for Advent time and the last for Christmas week. Spending time in recognising the blessings we have received – and probably missed, allows us to give thanks and then we can bring our gift of gratefulness to the Baby Jesus born again in us.

Week One:
In the midst of the ups and down, of the past year: Where have I discovered glimpses of beauty?

Week Two:
The last twelve months will have held the whole range of feelings and emotions.  How has joy surprised me this year?

Week Three:
Somewhere in the darkness there will have been light.  What was the Christ light for me? Where did it guide me?

Week Four:
As I carry the newly born Christ Child into 2020: What are my hopes for each tomorrow?
